week 04

jan 22 to 28

Welcome to week four.

Be a Maker:

I am still battling my personal issue and haven't much to report. I worked more on the Tractors quilt top, making it larger because my husband took a keen interest in it once I brought it home from my guild meeting. He wrapped it over his shoulders and said it needed to be a little bigger and backed in flannel. He wants to be able to use it in while he's on his computer and so it needs to be long enough to wrap over his shoulders and down his arms.

I managed to do the custom stickers for my older son's classroom treats for his birthday. They are a roller skate with his name and Happy Birthday on them. This year I decided to forego the cupcakes or giant cookie for the class and got individual mini M&M bags. Two stapled together, a sticker on each, 28 total so there is enough for students and staff, and done.

My Find Your Fade shawl is coming along. I have to finish it by the 14th so I can pack it up and send off for a Birthday gift. I am super excited to see the recipient's reaction.

Use the Stash:

I will finish the Tractors quilt using fabric and batting from my stash. If I don't have enough left over from the top to piece together the binding I'll augment from my stash.

Practice my Craft:

This past weekend we had a presentation on curved piecing using glue basting. It was interesting and made the sewing of the curves easier. The time component seemed higher but compare that to the number of curves I mess up and need to rip out and redo, I think it's quicker to baste the pieces. I will definitely be using the technique when I finally get around to my Flowering Snowball quilt.

Also this week:

Here are the planner spreads for this week. I am trying to use stickers left over from previous spreads and so they look a little messy.

Later this month:

Sarah Fielke is doing a BOM called Down the Rabbit Hole. The monthly instructions are being released at the end of each month, so this will be a more prominent item in my planning of February.

On to week five...
