week 03

jan 15 to 21

Welcome to week three.

Be a Maker:

It has been a nearly empty week for me. Today is Thursday the 19th and I am just getting to this post so it is going to be rather slim.

I have been making this week. There is some hexies for a swap, a John Deere tractor quilt top, a Pussy Hat, and more on my Find Your Fade shawl. That's been it. I haven't touched Flutter in almost 7 days. I also have to get on the ball with some quilt patterns I need to finish and send on to souls awaiting them.

I just got done decorating my spread in my Quilter's Planner and haven't even had the motivation to do either last week's or this week's blocks. I found some OOP Alison Glass fabric today that have really lightened my mood and given me a little kick in the but to get some stuff done. Those will be what I make these blocks from.

I have spent a little time working on some custom stickers. I want ones I can use in my planners that I find myself always writing in. Easier and prettier to use a sticker for it. I am also doing birthday treats for my older son since his 9th is fast approaching. More on those once I have a final proof printed.

Use the Stash:

I confess, all the fabric I've worked with this week is new. I found the tractors at Joanns, I got the OOP fabrics at Colorado Fabrics, and even the washi in my planner spreads are new, thank you Michael's.

I did pull the neon pink yarn for my Pussy Hat from my stash. It is a single ply bulky weight merino that is super squishy and soft. That was a quick enough project it might have been what I needed to get back into a Maker state of mind.

Practice my Craft:

Besides knitting a hat and general easy piecing, I haven't done any new or interesting skills this week. This weekend is the FRMQG meeting and one of our members is teaching curves, so I will get in some practice Saturday on a technique I don't use very often.

Also this week:

Sarah Fielke released a "free" pattern to those signed up for her BOM. It is a sewing companion and comes in three different styles. One of the styles is a fish, so duh, FISHER, I am totally doing that one. I found this metallic sardines print and it just so happens to go great with these flowers from Rifle Paper CO. Just need a soft solid to coordinate and I will have me a pretty, fishy sewing companion.

Later this month:

Sarah Fielke is doing a BOM called Down the Rabbit Hole. The monthly instructions are being released at the end of each month, so this will be a more prominent item in my planning of February.

On to week four...
